EastEnders love rat Max Branning tries to end things with his secret lover Priya Nandra-Hart next week — but ends up nearly being caught getting passionate with her by his fiancée Cindy Beale.

Ever since their ill-advised first hook-up, Max has tried to tell himself he can end things with Priya and recommit to his relationship.

But despite Max trying to keep his distance, next week Priya blackmails him into a secret meeting at The Arches.

Max decides this is the moment where he will end things. However, within minutes, the toxic twosome are at it again.

“The only person who ever believes Max will change is Max, and he’s forever proving himself wrong,” explains our Walford spy.

“He has absolutely convinced himself that he can put what happened with Priya behind him and build a future with Cindy. But the moment Priya gets him alone, Max’s resistance crumbles.”

Cindy is already not a fan of Priya’s, and she doesn’t yet know that she’s been bedding her man. But Cindy soon gets suspicious: When she spies Priya and Avani arguing, she harshly judges her love rival, but Max jumps to the struggling mum’s defence.

Rather than be pleased that Max is speaking up for her, Priya is raging that he’s sharing her private business with Cindy. Realising things are getting out of hand, Max agrees to meet Priya at the garage, where he intends to put a stop to their clandestine connection. But he’s soon undoing all his promises as well as her clothes.

“Imagine his horror when Cindy and Lauren turn up at just the wrong time,” continues our source. “It’s enough to turn even the coolest customer into a total wreck.

“Max manages to think quickly enough to hide Priya in a car boot, but not to stop Lauren from driving off with her! Priya is going to learn that there are always consequences when you are messing with a man like Max.”

Cindy is no fool and is soon grilling Max, convinced he’s hiding something from her. Meanwhile, Priya goes on a nightmare drive and becomes convinced Lauren is about to rumble her.

When she finally gets back, Priya is furious, and she decides it’s time to expose Max for the love cheat he is. Can anything stop her from putting the truth out there and blowing up Max and Cindy’s engagement?
