NEWEST UPDATE!!! EastEnders signs Casualty star Jason Durr for Linda Carter love storyline

Casualty and Heartbeat star Jason Durr has joined the cast of EastEnders for an upcoming “guest stint,” which will see him share scenes primarily with soap icon Kellie Bright (as Linda Carter).

The introduction will be part of a forthcoming storyline in which Linda leads a campaign to save an Albert Square community centre, when it is put at risk by developers.

A key ally in this fight may well be Clive Masters (played by Durr), a local councillor, who “sparks up a friendship” with Linda – and she “quickly realises there might be more” to their connection.

Durr said: “Few shows command their place in the national conversation quite like EastEnders, so I’m delighted to be joining the cast as Clive Masters.”

The actor continued: “Working with the wonderful Kellie Bright has been an absolute joy and pleasure from day one. All the cast, crew and production staff have been incredibly generous, welcoming and good humoured.”

Durr added: “I’m excited for audiences to meet Clive and see what’s in store.”

The actor is currently shooting scenes, which will be broadcast later this summer.

Durr recently concluded a seven-year stint on BBC medical drama Casualty, where he played nurse David Hide, who left Holby City following the tragic death of his overworked colleague, Robyn (Amanda Henderson).

Previously, he’d become well-known to the nation through his role on police drama Heartbeat, where he was part of the main cast between seasons 7 and 12, playing PC Mike Bradley.

Durr’s other screen credits include Above Suspicion, Lewis, Midsomer Murders and, most recently, cosy crime series Shakespeare & Hathaway.

Notably, Linda Carter was one of several characters implicated in a mysterious flash-forward, which positioned her as a potential bride to Max Branning (Jake Wood). Could this new love interest rule her out?

Back in February, Bright told Radio Times: “At the moment, where I’m at with her, I can’t imagine [Linda marrying Max]. But who knows what will happen this year?”
