mmerdale unleashes dramatic new fire mystery as Robert and Aaron are targete
Emmerdale launched a shocking new whodunnit tonight, as a mystery figure started a dangerous fire. The cliffhanger followed an episode full of tension between Cain and Robert – but who was actually responsible?
The instalment opened with Robert working on the farm, only to be attacked and knocked unconscious by Sam. When Robert woke up, he was tied to a chair in the barn – faced with a hammer-wielding Cain.

Yesterday, viewers saw Cain find out that Robert was the one who planted incriminating identity documents at Butlers, leading to Moira’s wrongful arrest – and tonight, he was out for payback.
Sam fled the barn after fearing that Cain was “taking it a bit too far”, but Cain continued to threaten Robert, leading the latter to explain how he was only protecting Victoria for killing John.
Later, as Moira and Aaron worried about where the two men were, Cain went to strike Robert but then collapsed in pain himself, leaving Robert torn on whether to escape or help him.
He ultimately chose to take him to hospital, where Cain warned him not to “think this is over”. With Cain taken in for treatment, Moira and Aaron arrived and found out what had happened.

After Aaron spoke to Cain and stuck up for Robert, Robert apologised for his actions once again and Cain finally agreed to make peace.
Robert and Aaron walked out of the hospital relieved to have put this ugly chapter behind them, but their troubles were far from over – as viewers then saw a mysterious figure starting a blaze at Emmerdale Farm. Who was behind the shocking act?
In other Emmerdale news, it’s been confirmed that Patsy Kensit is reprising her iconic role of Sadie King after 20 years. Sure enough, the character had affairs with both Robert and Cain during her original stint.
“I am really excited to return to Emmerdale,” Kensit said. “I treasure the years I was here before. Sadie King is a character that I really loved playing. The cast and crew are absolutely brilliant and I am so grateful for the chance to return to the show – it’s absolutely amazing.”
The search for the Emmerdale arsonist continues next week, and suspicion soon falls on Sam Dingle and Ross Barton! As Robert Sugden investigates the mysterious blazes at his farm, he thinks Ross is helping him – but Aaron Dingle wonders if their little helper could actually be the culprit…
“The heat is on for Robert – quite literally!” exclaims our Emmerdale insider. “Someone is targeting the Sugdens by starting fires at the farm, with alarming regularity. Robert and Aaron are determined to catch them in the act before they cause more damage, and notice a few villagers looking decidedly shifty…”

Cleaning up the carnage of a second fire, which is dangerously near to a feed store, Aaron and Robert speculate who could be behind this.
Although he has a history of rubbing folk up the wrong way, Robert is a much nicer bloke these days – but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still somebody out there with a score to settle.
The last thing the fellas need right now is an unreliable workforce, so when dishevelled Kammy shows up late for a shift at the garage, he gets it in the neck from unimpressed Aaron who demands he start pulling his weight. Could there be a reason why conscientious Kammy has suddenly taken his eye off the ball
Meanwhile, Sam is stressed after missing a couples dance class Lydia booked for them and needs a distraction. Collaring Ross, he asks for a word in private, and the pair sneak off to the Sugdens’ land with a secret agenda…
“Ross and Sam are chatting furtively in a barn,” notes our source. “They look around as if they’re casing the joint, with Ross observing it’s perfect for what they need – then he hands Sam a lighter and asks him to do the honours…”

Hearing Robert and Aaron on the approach, Sam flees the scene leaving Ross to explain what he’s doing there. Convincing Robert he was looking for clues as to the arsonist’s identity, Ross suggests he receives payment for exposing who’s behind the blazes. But is he double bluffing to hide the fact it’s actually him?
Ross later catches up with his possible co-conspirator, and as he and Sam spit and shake on their secret deal, they’re watched from afar by Nicola. With the local gossip on high alert, are the boys about to be rumbled?
When a third fire occurs, Ross suggests to Robert his unstable ex Kev could be responsible as revenge for being dumped. Desperate Robert agrees to pay Ross triple to solve the crime, but Aaron soon has another theory.

“Could Ross actually be trying to deflect attention from himself?” questions our insider. “Aaron thinks so, and decides he and Robert should follow Ross and Sam to see what they’re up to…”

But as Robert and Aaron discuss the secret fire starter, neither of them clock Kammy is listening in – and he looks worried! What does he have to hide?
