Emmerdale’s Lewis finally discovers hidden Kev secret as kidnap story is resolved

Emmerdale has seen Ross Barton’s plan to help Lewis backfire as his half-brother ended up discovering the truth about his biological dad. After Kev Townsend, who’s Lewis’s real father, returned to the village amid a kidnapping storyline involving a ‘diamond’, he decided to come clean to his son, who was less than impressed.

In tonight’s hour-long Emmerdale, Ross used Kev as leverage to rescue Lewis from kidnapper Kylie.

The woman had sent Ross a ransom note, urging Lewis’s dad to return her diamond, nicknamed Penny. The message ultimately led Ross to discover Kev was Lewis’s real dad and was still holding onto Kylie’s diamond necklace.

As Ross knocked Kev out and brought him to his meeting with Kylie, the bizarre scenario was clarified when the woman revealed that she and Kev used to be an item. Penny was the name of their deceased cat, whose ashes had been turned into the diamond necklace.

After successfully rescuing Lewis, Ross lied to protect him and made it look like he was the one who’d stolen from Kylie.

Despite Ross’s best efforts to keep him away from Lewis, Kev showed up at his son’s unannounced, ready to get honest about his secret.

Ross pleaded with him to keep quiet, but Kev erupted in a rendition of Cat Stevens’ ‘Father and Son’ before admitting that he was Lewis’s dad.

Kev tried to plead his case with Lewis, saying he would love to hang out as father and son now he’d managed to turn things around and stay out of prison. However, Lewis resented Kev for being absent from his life and refused to give their relationship a chance.

“You never wanted me, I don’t want you,” Lewis said, with Ross telling Kev to go.

As an upset Lewis told Vinny and Ross he needed to be alone, Kev had other plans. In the Woolpack later on, Nicola King gave Kev a piece of her mind, telling him off for dropping a bombshell on Lewis and then leaving.

“I could not agree more,” Kev said to her and Ross. “Which is why I’ve decided to stick about.”
