Emmerdale’s Dr Todd to face police tonight in dark Charity story
Emmerdale has revealed what’s next for Dr Todd and Charity Dingle’s dark storyline as police arrive in the village to make an arrest.
Just when Dr Todd is preparing to leave the Dales, she gets more than she’d bargained for as the police summon her to the station for questioning.

Earlier this week, Charity visited the police station to report Dr Todd for sexually assaulting her. She also underwent a medical examination so that the police would have as much evidence as possible to help with the investigation.
In Wednesday’s episode (10 June), Charity is shaken when she sees Dr Todd in person for the first time since the attack.
Although Charity has spoken to the police about Todd’s crime, she still isn’t ready to confide in her family. In separate conversations with her husband Mackenzie Boyd and granddaughter Sarah Sugden, she covers for why she disappeared from Sarah’s 21st birthday party the day before.
Shortly afterwards, Todd realises that she could be in big trouble as newcomer DS Reid approaches her regarding an allegation of sexual assault.
When questioned, will evil Dr Todd think quickly and find a new way to manipulate the situation? Or will this be the beginning of the end? Watch a first look at the scene below:

Speaking recently about the future of this plot, Emmerdale‘s producer Sophie Roper commented: “Charity’s storyline will explore the impact of sexual violence, and though this heinous act is fundamentally about power, we’ll explore the complexities of how Charity processes her trauma when the perpetrator is a woman.
“With little conversation surrounding female-on-female assault, we’ll explore the overwhelming feelings of isolation many survivors experience and will examine the disparity between the legal term sexual assault and the fact that many women in Charity’s position feel this minimises what’s happened to them, because they feel like they’ve been raped.
“Though difficult viewing at times, Charity’s resilience will inspire hope as she confronts what has happened to her.”
Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, added: “This has been one of the most demanding and significant storylines I’ve had to navigate as Charity. We know her as a tough, resilient character, but this trauma will expose a deep, raw vulnerability that has been heartbreaking at times to play.
“I hope this storyline gives even one person the courage to speak out or helps others understand the quiet devastation of trauma.”
In the aftermath of her shocking ordeal, Charity Dingle finds herself trapped in an emotional battle that seems impossible to escape. While reporting Dr Todd to the police was a huge step forward, it has not brought the immediate relief many people might expect. Instead, Charity is forced to relive the traumatic experience every time she is asked to recall details of what happened.
As the investigation gathers momentum, detectives begin interviewing several residents who may have crossed paths with Dr Todd in recent weeks. The police are determined to establish a timeline and uncover whether Charity could have been one of multiple victims.
Despite appearing strong on the surface, Charity is struggling more than ever. She continues to put on a brave face around her loved ones, refusing to reveal the true reason behind her recent erratic behaviour. Mackenzie notices that something is seriously wrong, but every attempt he makes to get closer to his wife is met with resistance.
The strain starts affecting their marriage. Mackenzie feels hurt by Charity’s refusal to confide in him, while Charity becomes increasingly frustrated with herself for keeping such a painful secret. She desperately wants to tell him the truth but fears that speaking the words aloud will somehow make the trauma even more real.
Meanwhile, Sarah Sugden remains concerned about her grandmother’s sudden disappearance during her birthday celebrations. Although Charity insists she simply needed some time alone, Sarah struggles to believe the explanation. Her instincts tell her that something significant has happened, and she becomes determined to uncover the truth.
Elsewhere, Dr Todd begins to realise that the walls are closing in around her. What initially seemed like a manageable accusation suddenly becomes a genuine threat to her freedom and career. The arrival of DS Reid signals that the police are taking Charity’s complaint extremely seriously.
Faced with intense questioning, Todd attempts to maintain her professional composure. She insists that everything was a misunderstanding and tries to portray herself as the victim of false allegations. However, investigators quickly identify inconsistencies in her account.
As detectives continue their inquiries, new information starts to emerge. Questions arise regarding Todd’s past conduct and whether there were warning signs that previously went unnoticed. Rumours begin circulating throughout the village, leaving residents shocked and divided.
Some villagers are quick to support Charity, believing her account without hesitation. Others struggle to reconcile the allegations with the respected medical professional they thought they knew. The uncertainty creates tension within the community as everyone waits for further developments.
For Charity, the growing attention surrounding the case becomes another source of anxiety. She never wanted to become the centre of a public scandal. Instead, she simply wanted justice and acknowledgement of what happened to her.
Emma Atkins’s character finds herself confronting feelings she never expected to experience. Anger, shame, confusion and fear all collide as she attempts to process the attack. At times she questions whether reporting Todd was the right decision, particularly when she realises how emotionally draining the legal process can be.
Fortunately, Charity slowly begins receiving support from unexpected sources. Individuals who have experienced similar trauma encourage her to continue speaking out. Their words help her understand that she is not alone and that her feelings are valid.
The storyline also explores how difficult it can be for victims of female-on-female sexual assault to come forward. Charity worries that people may not fully understand the seriousness of what happened because the perpetrator is a woman. These concerns mirror the experiences of many real-life survivors who fear they will not be believed.
As the investigation progresses, Mackenzie becomes increasingly suspicious that Charity is hiding something significant. Eventually he reaches a point where he can no longer ignore the warning signs. Viewers may see him begin piecing together clues that point towards the devastating truth.
Should Charity finally decide to open up, the revelation is likely to have a profound impact on their relationship. Mackenzie has always been fiercely protective of those he loves, and learning what happened to Charity could leave him overwhelmed with guilt for not recognising her suffering sooner.
At the same time, Sarah’s determination to help her grandmother may place her directly in the middle of the crisis. As family members become aware of the situation, Charity could finally receive the emotional support network she desperately needs.
However, healing will not come quickly. Producers have indicated that the storyline is designed to realistically portray the long-term consequences of sexual violence. Rather than resolving the issue within a few episodes, the show plans to explore the ongoing challenges faced by survivors.
Future scenes are expected to highlight Charity’s attempts to regain control of her life while navigating police procedures, emotional triggers and the reactions of those around her. Even seemingly ordinary situations may become difficult reminders of the trauma she experienced.
Meanwhile, Dr Todd faces an increasingly uncertain future. If evidence continues to mount against her, the consequences could be severe. Her professional reputation has already suffered significant damage, and criminal charges may not be far behind.
Yet soap fans know that Emmerdale rarely takes a straightforward path. Todd may still attempt to manipulate those around her, create doubt about Charity’s account or exploit weaknesses in the investigation. Whether these tactics succeed remains to be seen.
What is certain is that Charity’s story is only just beginning. The coming weeks promise emotional confrontations, heartbreaking revelations and difficult conversations that challenge both the characters and the audience.
As Emmerdale continues to tackle this sensitive subject, viewers will witness Charity’s journey from victim to survivor. Her determination to seek justice, despite overwhelming fear and uncertainty, could become one of the show’s most powerful stories of the year.
With police pressure increasing, family secrets threatening to emerge and Dr Todd’s future hanging in the balance, the drama is set to intensify. The village may never be the same again once the full truth finally comes to light.
