Emmerdale’s Cain delivers heartbreaking cancer news to Moira

Emmerdale‘s Moira Dingle received more heartbreaking news tonight, amid Cain’s ongoing battle with cancer. After learning that he tried to come onto Charity while she was in prison, furious Moira confronted her husband – but was left reeling by another huge revelation.

The episode began with Moira sitting alone, following her argument with Cain. It was revealed that he had spent the night sleeping on Chas’ sofa, though he soon returned to Wishing Well Cottage.

When Moira insisted they needed to talk, Cain claimed he wasn’t “in the mood”, but Moira wasn’t taking no for an answer. She reminded him that he was in the wrong and urged him to explain, though he told her she wouldn’t understand.

“Just give me a chance. Cain, you could get a call any minute about what comes next and we can’t have all this hanging over us when that happens. So just explain to me, what the hell where you thinking?” she said.

As Cain explained his reasoning for acting out, attributing it his recent diagnosis, Moira began to soften. He apologised for messing up but their conversation was interrupted by a call from the hospital.

Later, Cain returned with some disappointing news from the doctor, who confirmed his cancer had “advanced locally” and he would need radiotherapy.

Moira focused on the positive, pointing out that it was still “treatable”, adding: “We need to be grateful for this.” But her relief was short-lived when Cain revealed he wasn’t going through with the treatment.

“I’ve read up on what it can do to you, and it’s not for me,” he told his confused wife, referring to the side effects he’s been experiencing.

“Is this because of how you’re feeling, lately? You’re not feeling yourself anymore?” Moira enquired. “Look, I know I shouldn’t have thrown it in your face, but I was just so angry.”

She tried to reassure him that she didn’t care about having sex, and just wanted him alive, but Cain stayed firm in his decision. He then added that he didn’t want to tell the rest of the family the truth, leaving Moira completely devastated.

Will she be able to convince Cain to reconsider before it’s too late?
