There is a double bill tonight – Monday, June 29 – with two episodes airing back to back on BBC Two at 7.30pm and 8pm.
The move comes as Wimbledon gets under way on the BBC.
Wimbledon coverage began on BBC Two in the morning, with BBC One joining the action later in the afternoon.
With the grass-court action dominating the daytime and early-evening schedule, EastEnders has been moved over to BBC Two.
Plenty of soap enthusiasts have been expressing their views on social media.
One posted: “Stick all the sport on BBC 3 and leave it there.”
Another fumed: “Just put Wimbledon on iPlayer, as no bugger really cares about it.”
But one viewer saw the positive side, writing: “Back before the internet & online arrived, viewers had to wait and moan about football taking over, so just be thankful.”
