Coronation Street reveals two shocking incidents in Daniel’s dark story

Coronation Street‘s Daniel Osbourne faces every parent’s worst nightmare next week, when he wakes up to find that his young son Bertie is missing.

Later, as the repercussions play out, Daniel accidentally injures his father Ken Barlow during a tense showdown at No.1. It’s a hellish week that threatens to have major consequences…

The drama kicks off as Daniel gets drunk at his flat, passing out and leaving Bertie to fend for himself.

Hungover and fuelled by panic, Daniel races out onto the Street to search for his son. But who has Bertie – and is he safe?

Before Bertie’s disappearance, things begin going wrong as Daniel nervously prepares to return to work, knowing that everyone has read the vile posts about him on social media.

To cheer his dad up, Bertie gives him a gift for good luck – a ‘Best Teacher’ mug. Sadly, any happiness Daniel feels from it is soon destroyed when Lily Platt bumps into him in the corridor and the mug breaks.

Following the awful incident, Daniel decides to drown his sorrows at the Rovers, where Adam Barlow is forced to step in to save him from himself. However, as Daniel heads out to the precinct in a foul temper, he runs into Megan Walsh. Is Daniel capable of harming his twisted ex?

If Daniel thought his week had already hit rock bottom, he is about to be unpleasantly surprised. Back at the flat, as Daniel scrolls through the latest posts from ‘Truthteller 2’, Jodie Ramsey accidentally makes a remark that exposes her as his online troll.

Despite her flat-out denials, Daniel knows he’s right, so he returns to the Rovers for more booze before heading home. Once there, poor Bertie asks for dinner, but is ignored as his dad passes out.

That leads the vulnerable youngster to try to cook for himself with disastrous results, before wandering out into the street alone…

When Daniel is woken up the next morning by a call from Bertie’s school asking why he isn’t there, he panics. As he hurries over to the Barlow house to look for his son, Daniel finds himself confronted by his loved ones, who are deeply concerned about his irresponsible parenting.

“They all call him out and corner him at No.1,” reveals Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel.

“Daniel just feels trapped – he goes to lash out at Adam, and he catches Ken! It’s always Ken that he seems to hurt.”

But the question remains: what has happened to missing Bertie? And when social services arrive on his doorstep, will Daniel have more uncomfortable questions to answer?

 

As Daniel Osbourne’s life continues to spiral out of control in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street, the fallout from Bertie’s terrifying disappearance sends shockwaves across the cobbles — and things only get darker from there.

After the panic of finding his young son missing, Daniel is left completely shattered when social services begin asking serious questions about whether he is fit to care for Bertie at all. Though Bertie is eventually found safe and unharmed after wandering into the café frightened and confused, the emotional damage has already been done. Residents across Weatherfield are horrified to learn the little boy had been left alone while Daniel drank himself unconscious, and whispers begin spreading quickly throughout the Street.

At No.1, Ken Barlow struggles to process what has happened. Already injured during Daniel’s explosive outburst, Ken is devastated that his son’s reckless behaviour nearly led to tragedy. While Adam insists Daniel needs professional help immediately, Ken refuses to completely abandon him, believing Daniel is still drowning under the pressure of the online accusations and public humiliation that have consumed his life.

But Daniel’s situation becomes even more complicated when DS Swain arrives with fresh questions regarding Megan Walsh.

Rumours begin circulating that Megan has suddenly vanished after her heated confrontation with Daniel near the precinct. When her phone is discovered smashed and abandoned near Victoria Garden, several residents begin quietly wondering whether Daniel may have done something terrible during his drunken blackout.

The pressure becomes unbearable when Kit Green informs Daniel that CCTV footage places him near the gardens at the exact time Megan disappeared. Unable to fully remember the events of the night himself, Daniel begins questioning whether he may actually have hurt her in a drunken rage.

Meanwhile, Daisy Midgeley watches the chaos unfold with growing concern. Despite everything that happened between them, Daisy cannot ignore how broken Daniel has become. Jenny urges her to stay away, warning that Daniel is spiralling dangerously, but Daisy finds herself drawn back into his orbit after spotting him sleeping rough inside the community centre following another explosive row with Ken.

Things worsen dramatically when Bertie innocently tells Bethany Platt that he “couldn’t wake Daddy up” the night he disappeared. Horrified by the child’s fear, Bethany confronts Daniel publicly inside the café, accusing him of putting his own son at risk because he refuses to face reality.

The confrontation leaves Daniel humiliated — especially when several customers overhear every word.

Already hanging by a thread emotionally, Daniel reaches breaking point after discovering fresh hateful posts online from “Truthteller 2,” mocking him as a dangerous father and disgraced teacher. Convinced that someone close to him is continuing to sabotage his life, Daniel becomes increasingly paranoid and isolated.

However, the biggest shock arrives when Jodie Ramsey finally cracks under pressure.

After weeks of denying involvement, Jodie admits she was indeed responsible for creating many of the fake social media stories targeting Daniel. According to Jodie, she initially only wanted revenge after feeling humiliated during her time at school, but things spiralled far beyond her control once others online joined the attacks.

Daniel is left furious and heartbroken as Jodie coldly admits she never expected the campaign to destroy his entire life.

But while Jodie’s confession finally clears part of Daniel’s name, the damage may already be irreversible.

Betsy Swain later reveals that several parents have formally complained to the school board, demanding Daniel never return to teaching again. News spreads quickly through Weatherfield, and Daniel soon realises that even people who once defended him are beginning to doubt him.

Even worse, social services inform Daniel that Bertie may temporarily be placed with another guardian while they continue investigating the situation at home.

The possibility of losing his son completely sends Daniel into absolute panic.

Desperate to prove he can still be a good father, Daniel attempts to pull himself together by attending an addiction support meeting arranged by Adam. But the meeting quickly turns into disaster when Daniel loses his temper after another attendee recognises him from the scandal online and accuses him of being “dangerous around children.”

Humiliated once again, Daniel storms out before the session finishes.

Back on the Street, tensions inside the Barlow family continue exploding. Tracy bluntly tells Ken that Daniel is becoming a threat to everyone around him, while Steve worries Bertie is suffering lasting emotional trauma from the chaos.

Ken, however, refuses to give up on his son.

In emotional scenes, Ken later visits Daniel at the flat and quietly admits he fears Daniel is following the same destructive path as so many troubled men in the family before him. The heartfelt conversation appears to briefly reach Daniel, who breaks down in tears while apologising for hurting his father.

But peace does not last long.

Later that evening, a shocking new development rocks Weatherfield when Megan Walsh is suddenly discovered unconscious near the canal after apparently being attacked. Though she survives, Megan remains unable to clearly remember who assaulted her.

Unfortunately for Daniel, witnesses soon reveal they saw him arguing aggressively with Megan shortly before she was found injured.

DS Swain wastes little time bringing Daniel in for questioning.

The entire Street is left stunned as police cars arrive outside No.1, with Bertie watching helplessly while his father is escorted away. Though Daniel desperately insists he would never hurt anyone, even he seems unsure about what truly happened during his drunken spiral.

Meanwhile, Daisy begins uncovering evidence that could completely change everything.

After speaking privately with Carla Connor, Daisy learns Megan had recently been involved in dangerous dealings with several local troublemakers — including someone connected to Mick Michaelis. Carla warns Daisy that Megan had been receiving threats long before Daniel’s breakdown ever began.

Could Daniel actually be innocent?

As the investigation continues, Adam becomes convinced someone is deliberately framing Daniel while exploiting his vulnerable mental state. Adam later uncovers deleted messages on Megan’s phone hinting she had planned to meet somebody else on the night of her disappearance.

But before Adam can fully reveal the truth, Daniel makes another devastating mistake.

Overwhelmed by guilt, fear, and the possibility of losing Bertie forever, Daniel disappears from Weatherfield entirely, leaving behind only a short voicemail apologising to Ken and Bertie.

The disappearance sends the Street into panic once again.

Daisy fears Daniel may attempt to harm himself, while Ken blames himself for failing to protect his son from completely falling apart. Adam immediately launches a desperate search, terrified Daniel may do something irreversible before police uncover the real truth.

And as Bertie quietly asks when his daddy is coming home, viewers are left wondering whether Daniel’s life can ever recover from the nightmare that has consumed him — or whether this is truly the beginning of the end for one of Coronation Street’s most tragic characters.
