BREAKING NEWS!! EastEnders airs Denise scene that changes everything in early iPlayer release

EastEnders has aired a devastating scene involving Denise Fox, which changes everything for her major new storyline. Denise recently discovered that she has acute myeloid leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, and has been told by doctors that she needs to start emergency treatment at the hospital to save her life immediately.

Denise has refused to do so and has only told Jack and Yolande about her diagnosis, believing that she needs to be there to support her daughter Chelsea after Jordan’s tragic accident.

In today’s episode, Denise seemed to struggle with her condition, but she continued to ignore calls from the hospital and took charge of getting the kids ready for school.

Jack urged her to get treatment, reminding his partner that she could die otherwise, but Denise refused to be pushed into it and explained that the whole family is depending on her for support.

As Denise met struggling Chelsea at the café, Jack got desperate and headed over to see Phil to tell him about Denise’s diagnosis. He explained that Denise wasn’t listening to his pleas and asked for his help with encouraging her to change her mind.

Meanwhile, Denise and the rest of the family discovered that Kim and Howie were engaged again, and Denise insisted on celebrating the couple’s good news at The Vic.

When she arrived home, she found Phil waiting for her. When Phil said he was taking Raymond to stay with him, Denise realised he knew about her cancer. Despite Phil warning her that she might not survive her illness should she delay treatment any further, Denise didn’t listen and asked him to leave.

Denise started partying at The Vic with her family, but Jack and Phil later arrived at the pub frustrated that she was continuing to bury her head in the sand.

But when Kim made a speech and paid tribute to her sister, thanking her for everything she’s done for her family, it all got too much for Denise, and she ran to the toilets in tears.

Chelsea checked on her mum, suspicious about the behaviour of her, Jack and Phil and realising that something was wrong. Denise broke down but couldn’t quite bring herself to tell her daughter the truth.

Denise attempted to leave the pub, but when her whole family confronted her, she finally admitted what has been going on, in a powerful final scene.

“I’ve got cancer,” she revealed. “Leukaemia. And I’ve been putting off treatment because I’m scared. I’m scared and worried about leaving you all. But I’m ready now. I’m going to face it.”

Will Denise finally get the treatment she desperately needs?
