BIG TROUBLE!!! Coronation Street’s Jude Riordan suffers real-life setback amid Sam’s big storyline

Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has shared a real-life injury with fans, confirming that it’s unrelated to his current soap storyline. The actor, who plays Sam Blakeman, posted a photo on social media last Friday (15 May), which saw him using crutches at work.

“A fractured ankle,” he wrote alongside the image, which was added to his Instagram Story. “Unfortunately irl [in real life], not Sam!”

Riordan then commented: “What a week,” alongside a sad face emoji (via Manchester Evening News).

While Sam may not have an physical injury, the character has recently been struggling with his mental health, after discovering Megan Walsh’s grooming of Will Driscoll. At first, the teenager stood his ground when confronting the pair, but Megan’s intimidation soon became too much for him to handle and he began taking unprescribed ADHD medication.

Megan’s threats continued even after Sam was hospitalised, though it prompted him to come clean to his loved ones, eventually resulting in Megan’s arrest.

Last week’s episodes saw a worrying development in the storyline, as Sam’s psychosis escalated. Viewers were able to see the reality of the situation, which revealed that Sam was talking to himself and imagining conversations.

What’s worse is that the teenager began to hallucinate a conversation between himself and Roy Cropper, during which the latter insinuated that Sam was a burden to his dad Nick Tilsley and mother figures Leanne and Toyah Battersby.

Later, Sam and ‘Roy’ had another damaging chat in the gardens, where Roy warned Sam not to trust anyone and told him he had a target on his back. Will Sam be able to get the help he needs before he or someone else gets hurt?
