It was clear that he would stop at nothing to keep Robert to himself, but he didn’t feel the same and was instead ready to move on with Aaron Dingle.
Robert had married Kev in prison, believing he was dying – a lie Kev told to save their relationship.
Then a shock twist revealed that Kev was also the biological father of Lewis Barton, played by Bradley Riches.
But in December, he bid farewell to the Dales following the breakdown of his marriage to Robert.
He found out that Robert and Aaron were back together and realised there was nothing left for him in the village without Robert.
Meanwhile, Nicola King was blackmailing him to leave his son, Lewis Barton alone.
What brings Kev back this time around?
Producers promise he will be with a bang as he launches a new business venture which they say will “stir up trouble” for the locals.
Chris said: “I’m really pleased to be returning to Emmerdale, I had a brilliant time last year. Kev is a complex character that I love playing.
“He has psychopathic tendencies but also an energy and vulnerability that I think makes him pretty unique. I’m properly looking forward to getting back at it.”
Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: “Both Chris and the character of Kev made a massive impact on the show last year, so Chris is most definitely back by popular demand.
