Abi loses her home after a panic-inducing chain of events in Coronation Street

Abi Webster’s world is turned upside down in next week’s Coronation Street as a terrifying health scare leaves Alfie in intensive care, and ultimately forces her out of her flat.
What starts as a frustrating complaint about damp quickly spirals into every parent’s worst nightmare, as Abi discovers the mould growing in Alfie’s bedroom has been putting his health at serious risk.
The drama begins when Abi vents her frustrations over the state of her flat. While grabbing a coffee, she leaves yet another voicemail for her landlord, complaining about the damp and admitting she’s never even managed to learn his name because he never returns her calls.
At the same time, there’s romance brewing elsewhere as a huge bouquet of flowers arrives at Speed Daal for Alya from Idris, who later turns up hoping she’ll forgive him.
But it’s Abi who gets the biggest shock when she hears Idris’s phone ringing and suddenly realises he’s actually the mystery landlord she’s been desperately trying to get hold of.

Things go from awkward to devastating later that evening.

As Abi tucks Alfie into bed, viewers see the thick black mould spreading across the wall behind his bed. Before long, Alfie wakes up struggling to breathe, sending Abi into a panic.
She immediately calls Kevin, who rushes them both to A&E.
Watching them leave, Idris becomes concerned, unaware that the condition of the flat is about to come back and haunt him in a big way.
At the hospital, Carl also rushes to be by Abi’s side as doctors assess Alfie. After carrying out initial checks, the consultant decides to keep Alfie in intensive care overnight while they run more tests.
Meanwhile, Idris and Brody head to the flat, where they’re horrified to discover just how bad the mould problem really is.
Once Idris learns Alfie has been taken to hospital, he rushes there himself, but it’s safe to say his arrival isn’t exactly welcomed with open arms.
Doctors soon confirm every parent’s worst fear.
They tell Abi that Alfie’s breathing problems are a direct result of the mould growing in his bedroom and advise her to find somewhere else to live immediately.
It’s a crushing blow, leaving Abi with no choice but to pack up her life and move in with Kevin.
Back on the Street, Leanne and Alya point out that whoever sold the flat to Idris may have known about the damp all along, suggesting there could be more to the story than simple neglect.
But while Idris insists on trying to put things right, Abi isn’t interested in excuses.
After returning home from the hospital, she heads back to the flat to collect some belongings, only to find Idris and Brody unloading paint and tools in an attempt to tackle the damp.
Abi is far from impressed.

Instead of accepting his apology, she tells Idris she’s taking him to court over the dangerous conditions that left her son seriously ill.
Away from the mould drama, Abi also becomes suspicious after spotting Idris and Brody acting strangely. She later warns Sally that she saw Brody forcing a man into the back of Idris’s car and is convinced they were up to no good.
Sally is left even more uneasy when Brody contributes money towards the household, leading her to tell Tim that Idris may be leading Brody down the wrong path.
Things get even more awkward when Brody introduces Kit to his new boss, Idris. Idris is clearly taken aback when he discovers Brody’s dad is actually a police officer.
As the week comes to an end, Sally encourages Abi not to let the matter drop. Determined to hold someone accountable for what happened to Alfie, she suggests Abi speak to Adam Barlow about taking legal action.
