Exclusive: Coronation Street confirms “twists and turns” for Maria and Gary this summer
Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has teased a “bumpy ride” ahead for Maria Connor and husband Gary Windass as the soap has revealed his involvement in Theo Silverton’s death.
Chatting to Digital Spy at on the red carpet at the TRIC Awards on Tuesday, Longchambon weighed in on Corrie‘s big murder mystery as Theo’s real killer was finally unmasked in an explosive episode.

While viewers now know that it was Sarah Platt who killed villain Theo, Maria remains in the dark and suspects Gary and Sarah might’ve rekindled their past romance. The two exes are indeed keeping a secret but it’s far less romantic that Maria imagines as Gary helped Sarah cover up Theo’s murder.

“I am still in shock. I watched it with my family because I’d not seen it. Obviously I was there, so I kind of knew what was happening, but it was nice to see it all edited and put together,” Longchambon said of the big reveal.

The soap star said that keeping the secret was “so hard” with everyone “having their own guesses”.
“It was so hard because everyone over the last couple of months has been having their own guesses who the killer is and not that many people were expecting it to be Sarah so it was quite nice it gave people a shock,” she said.
Longchambon also hinted at Maria and Gary having their relationship tested over the coming months.
“I guess that [Monday’s episode was] the start of so many twists and turns you are going to see over the [coming] weeks and months,” she said.
“I think you are going to see quite a bumpy ride for Gary and Maria.”
