GOOD news for soap fans – after a night off, both Coronation Street and Emmerdale are back on the box this evening.

The ITV stalwarts were bumped from the schedule on Tuesday thanks to the broadcaster’s football coverage, but almost normal service resumes today, albeit in a slightly earlier slot than usual.

When are Coronation Street and Emmerdale on tonight?

Coronation Street and Emmerdale return to our screens tonight – Wednesday, June 10 – but they are airing at an earlier time.

Emmerdale kicks things off at 7pm on ITV1, followed by Coronation Street at 7.30pm, rather than their regular 8pm and 8.30pm power hour slots.

The reason for the early start is more football, with ITV showing the England men’s World Cup warm-up against Costa Rica, with coverage starting at 8pm and the match kicking off at 9pm.

If you cannot wait until the evening, both episodes are also available to stream on ITVX from 7am.

It is the latest in a long run of soap disruptions caused by ITV’s sport coverage, and the shake-up has ruffled a few feathers.

A source said: “It’s proving quite the headache behind the scenes.

“Soap fans have already had to get used to the new slots, which came in at the beginning of the year, so with more changes coming there’s a real fear they could lose more viewers.

“Airing the episodes on a Sunday just does not work and now with the new schedule it’s very unlikely they’ll be able to run before these big World Cup matches start.

“There are lots of discussions behind the scenes about what they can do.”

When are Coronation Street and Emmerdale on this week?
