TRACY’S BATTLE Coronation Street’s Tracy Shaw reveals she’s ‘starving but can’t eat’ as horrific side effects of chemo kick in
TRACY Shaw has revealed that she’s struggling to eat as the side effects of her chemotherapy kick in.
The Coronation Street star, 52, announced to her fans in April that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Taking to Instagram with a new health update, Tracy said that she feels “starving but can’t eat”.
Wrapped up in a hoodie, she said: “Welcome to the reality of the situation of living on two different parallels of the aftermath of the chemo effects.”
The star then delved into why she’s unable to eat alongside other symptoms, sharing how she’s developed thrush inside of her mouth.
She continued: “I’m absolutely starving and I can’t eat. I have thrush in my mouth. My lips are chapped.

“I woke up feeling like I had pneumonia and yeah, the immune system’s really struggling today.
“So I’m listening to the body and I need to protect that and stay home.”
Tracy then revealed how a kind “Earth angel” in her life is bringing over a selection of chemo-friendly food for her to freeze as well as some handmade turbans and a sewing machine so she can make things of her own.
The brave star closed the video off by counting her blessings, noting: “Though it feels like the body is dying at the same time I’ve had the most spiritual experience experience this morning since about 3:30am actually.
“Watching the sunrise, being with the birds, being with the dogs. And I just feel so at peace.”
Fans of Tracy sent their love and strength in the post’s comments section, with one user saying: “Not sure what words to say other than I hope today is kind to you and your beautiful dogs give you lots of cuddles x.”
A second shared: “Sending love and strength to you x.”
A third added: “Glad to see you are staying positive and smiling.”
The health update comes shortly after Tracy donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust last month before losing it during chemo.
The charity makes real-hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatment or conditions such as alopecia.
Tracy played the role of Maxine Peacock in Coronation Street from 1995 to 2003.
She was a pin-up who’s storyline navigated multiple love affairs before meeting her tragic end by the hands of serial killer Richard Hillman.
