Coronation Street’s Fiz Dobbs risks a major rift as she issues warning

Coronation Street has seen Fiz Dobbs put a halt to a close bond between her daughter Hope and Will Driscoll following his ordeal with groomer Megan Walsh.

In new scenes, Eva Price was happy for Will and Hope to be cultivating a friendship after being manipulated by Megan, but Fiz wasn’t as pleased that the two teens were hanging out.

As Will and Hope were studying for their English exam, she teased him about the plot of Romeo and Juliet they’d been asked to summarise.

“Star-crossed lovers,” Hope said. “You’d know all about that.”

When Will boiled down the gist of Shakespeare’s tragedy to “impulsiveness” and “people doing mad stuff”, Hope commented: “You’d know all about that an’ all.”

As she glanced over at him, Hope admitted she found Will cute.

“You’re easy on the eye. So shoot me,” she said, adding: “Don’t worry. I know I’m not your type.”

“How old do you think you’d go? D’you reckon a nana would do it for you?” she then teased him as the two of them laughed it off.

The two of them were unaware that Eva had been listening in on their banter. She was relieved to see that Will had made a friend, or potentially more.

Later on, downstairs at the Rovers, Eva had a conversation with Fiz about Hope “laughing her head off with Will”.

“Think it really cheered him up, you know,” Eva tentatively said, before asking Fiz if Hope’d had “many boyfriends”.

Fiz brushed the idea off, putting her foot in her mouth when implying that Hope wasn’t as “experienced” as Will.

“It’s alright, I get it,” Eva said to defuse the awkwardness and reassured Fiz she didn’t think Will was looking for a girlfriend at the moment.

“I would hate for Hope to be rushed into anything she’s not ready for,” Fiz said, adding that her daughter was “really young for her age”.

“I would just like her to keep her innocence for as long as possible,” she finally said.

While Fiz seemed “totally fine” with Will and Hope being just friends, she suggested that anything more than that would be a “big problem” for her and Tyrone.

“I think we should keep an eye on it,” she told Eva, who seemed hurt by her comments.

The tension surrounding Hope Dobbs and Will Driscoll continued to grow in Coronation Street as Fiz became increasingly worried about how close the two teenagers were becoming after Will’s traumatic experience with groomer Megan Walsh.

After everything Will had endured, Eva Price was simply relieved to see him smiling again. For weeks, he had struggled to trust people, keeping himself isolated and emotionally withdrawn following Megan’s manipulation. So when Hope managed to get him laughing and talking again, Eva couldn’t hide her gratitude.

But while Eva saw a harmless friendship beginning to blossom, Fiz viewed the situation very differently.

During another study session ahead of their exams, Hope and Will found themselves alone once again, revising English literature together. Their playful teasing quickly drifted away from schoolwork and into more personal territory.

As they discussed Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Hope joked that Will probably related a little too well to the idea of “dangerous romance” after everything he’d gone through recently. Will rolled his eyes at her sarcastic comments, but it was obvious he enjoyed the banter.

“You always make everything sound dramatic,” he laughed.

“That’s because your life is dramatic,” Hope shot back with a grin. “Honestly, you could probably write your own soap opera at this point.”

The light-hearted exchange marked one of the first times Will had appeared genuinely relaxed in weeks. Even when Hope began teasing him about girls and relationships, he didn’t retreat into himself the way he usually did.

Instead, he teased her right back.

Their chemistry didn’t go unnoticed either. A nearby Eva overheard fragments of the conversation and couldn’t help smiling to herself as she realised Hope might be becoming exactly the kind of positive influence Will desperately needed.

Later, Eva cautiously approached Fiz to mention how good it had been seeing the pair laughing together. However, the conversation immediately became awkward.

Fiz clearly wasn’t comfortable with the idea of Hope getting emotionally attached to Will. Though she tried to remain polite, her protective instincts took over almost instantly.

“He’s been through an awful lot,” Fiz admitted carefully. “And Hope… well, she’s still immature in a lot of ways.”

Eva sensed the judgment in Fiz’s tone straight away. Though Fiz never outright criticised Will, her hesitation spoke volumes.

“She’s just trying to be a friend,” Eva insisted gently.

“I know,” Fiz replied. “But Hope gets attached very quickly. And she’s impressionable.”

Eva attempted to reassure her that Will wasn’t looking for a relationship after everything that happened with Megan. In fact, the ordeal had left him terrified of getting emotionally involved with anyone again.

Still, Fiz couldn’t shake her anxiety.

Deep down, she feared Hope’s fascination with Will had less to do with friendship and more to do with the dangerous excitement surrounding his recent trauma. Hope had always been drawn toward chaos, and Fiz worried that Will’s complicated emotional state might unintentionally pull her daughter into situations she wasn’t mature enough to handle.

That concern only intensified later when Tyrone admitted he’d noticed Hope talking about Will constantly at home.

“She lights up whenever his name comes up,” Tyrone observed.

Fiz immediately panicked.

“I don’t want her getting caught up in all this,” she confessed. “Not after everything that boy’s been through.”

Tyrone tried to calm her down, pointing out that Hope was growing up and naturally beginning to take an interest in boys. But Fiz argued that this situation felt completely different.

Will wasn’t just any teenager. He was vulnerable, emotionally damaged, and carrying trauma that most adults would struggle to process. Fiz feared Hope might unintentionally step into something far more serious than a teenage crush.

Meanwhile, Hope herself seemed oblivious to the concerns surrounding her friendship with Will.

The next day at school, she continued joking around with him as though nothing had changed. At one point, she even admitted that she liked the fact he treated her differently from everyone else.

“You don’t talk to me like I’m a kid,” she told him quietly.

Will seemed touched by the comment, admitting that most people had been walking on eggshells around him lately.

“I hate it,” he confessed. “Everyone keeps looking at me like I’m broken.”

Hope surprised him by responding with unusual sincerity.

“You’re not broken,” she said softly. “You just trusted the wrong person.”

The emotional moment briefly shifted the dynamic between them. For the first time, the joking stopped and something more genuine appeared to emerge beneath the surface.

Unfortunately, Fiz witnessed part of the interaction from a distance — and immediately assumed the worst.

Already on edge, she later confronted Hope at home, demanding to know exactly what was going on between her and Will.

Hope was furious that her mum had been spying on her.

“We’re just friends!” she snapped.

But Fiz refused to back down.

“You’re too young to understand how complicated this situation is,” she argued. “That boy’s been through something serious.”

Hope immediately became defensive, accusing Fiz of treating Will like some kind of danger.

“That’s not fair,” Hope insisted. “He’s actually really nice.”

Fiz attempted to explain that her concerns weren’t really about Will himself, but about the emotional baggage surrounding him. However, the more she talked, the more Hope felt patronised.

“You don’t trust me,” Hope realised bitterly.

The confrontation left Hope devastated and angry. Feeling misunderstood, she later confided in Will about the argument, admitting her parents thought she was too immature to make her own decisions.

Will sympathised with her frustration, though he also quietly admitted that maybe Fiz was just trying to protect her.

That comment caught Hope off guard.

“She thinks you’re trouble,” Hope bluntly said.

Will looked visibly hurt, though he tried not to show it.

“Maybe she’s right,” he muttered.

The heartbreaking moment revealed just how deeply Megan’s manipulation had damaged Will’s self-esteem. Despite trying to move forward, part of him still believed people would always see him as vulnerable, reckless, or damaged.

Hope immediately reassured him that she didn’t see him that way at all.

In fact, her loyalty toward him only appeared to grow stronger after learning how others viewed him.

As word slowly spread around the street that Hope and Will were spending increasing amounts of time together, tensions between the families became even more uncomfortable. While Eva appreciated Hope’s kindness toward Will, she also sensed Fiz pulling away from her entirely.

At the café, an awkward exchange between the two women highlighted how strained things had become.

Eva pointed out that Hope had helped Will regain confidence after months of emotional isolation. But Fiz countered that Hope shouldn’t be carrying the responsibility of fixing someone else’s trauma at her age.

Neither woman truly disagreed with the other — but both were approaching the situation from completely different emotional perspectives.

Eva saw healing and friendship.

Fiz saw risk and heartbreak waiting to happen.

By the end of the week, Hope and Will’s connection had clearly deepened beyond casual friendship, even if neither teenager openly admitted it yet. Small moments — lingering eye contact, private jokes, and quiet emotional conversations — hinted that feelings were beginning to develop on both sides.

And while Hope appeared excited by the growing bond, Will seemed increasingly conflicted.

Part of him clearly enjoyed being around her. She made him feel normal again in a way nobody else had managed since Megan’s betrayal.

But another part of him feared dragging Hope into the emotional mess his life had become.

Meanwhile, Fiz remained determined to stop things escalating any further.

After another conversation with Tyrone, she finally admitted her biggest fear out loud.

“What if Hope gets hurt?” she whispered. “What if she gets in too deep and ends up completely heartbroken?”

Tyrone gently reminded her that heartbreak was part of growing up. But Fiz wasn’t convinced.

For her, this wasn’t just teenage romance.

This was her daughter stepping toward a situation filled with trauma, vulnerability, and emotional complications far beyond her years.

And as Hope continued growing closer to Will despite all the warnings around her, Fiz began to realise she might not be able to stop what was happening at all.
