LOST IN IMAGINATION: SAM’S INNER TURMOIL REACHES A HEARTBREAKING PEAK 🧠🌫️🎭

Coronation Street has aired more distressing scenes for Sam Blakeman as he continues struggling with his mental health following Megan Walsh’s arrest.

Sam was the first to realise Megan’s secret grooming of her student, Will Driscoll, and spoke up on the teacher’s crimes, ending up being bullied into silence. As Megan has now been exposed thanks to Will’s statement, Sam’s mental health has taken a nosedive. In a recent scene, Sam imagined Will was attacking him in an alleyway, but it was revealed to be a figment of his imagination.

In tonight’s episode, Corrie has aired two more upsetting scenes for Sam, giving a glimpse into his downward spiral.

As Sam was revising for his exams at Leanne’s, he hallucinated that Will was there to threaten him.

“You’d better watch your back ’cause I’m coming for you,” imaginary Will told Sam, who was taken aback. When Leanne returned to the kitchen, a shaken Sam asked her if she’d heard the door slamming, but she reassured him that it’d have been the wind.

Still on edge, Sam said he would go revise at the Bistro, leaving Leanne concerned.

At the Bistro, Nick told Sam and Toyah that Megan had pleaded not guilty and she’d go to trial.

“Whatever you decide, whatever, that’s ok,” Toyah assured Sam, reminding him that he didn’t have to testify if he didn’t want to.

A petrified Sam put his headphones back on, hearing Will’s voice undermining his confidence and suggesting that his own family didn’t trust him.

Later on, Sam overheard a conversation between Toyah and Nick. While the couple was innocently commenting on the wine order for the restaurant, Sam imagined they were talking about him, suggesting he was “jealous” of Will.

“I mean, it’s obviously why Sam’s been lying about them,” he heard Toyah say.

“Yeah, if I’m honest, I feel ashamed of him,” Nick replied in Sam’s hallucination.

Watching his dad and Toyah talk on the Bistro’s CCTV, a teary-eyed Sam said: “I’m on my own.”

Will Toyah, Nick and Leanne realise the teen is in a bad way before it’s too late?

Coronation Street viewers have watched Sam Blakeman spiral into a devastating mental health crisis in recent weeks — and tonight’s episode delivered the storyline’s darkest twist yet.

The Weatherfield lad, played by Jude Riordan, has been deeply affected since discovering Megan Walsh’s disturbing secret grooming of Will Driscoll. Sam was the first person to suspect the pair of being involved in an inappropriate relationship, but speaking out came at a huge personal cost.

In an effort to silence him, Megan deliberately targeted Sam’s academic future and shattered his confidence, worsening his mental health in the process. The situation became so overwhelming that Sam later resorted to taking unprescribed Ritalin in a desperate attempt to cope academically and emotionally.

The medication misuse previously led to Sam collapsing on the cobbles, but recent scenes have made it increasingly clear that his struggles are far from over. Although Megan now appears close to finally facing the consequences for her behaviour, Sam continues to live in fear — particularly because of ongoing encounters with Will.

Recent episodes have shown Sam attempting to confront the teenager, only for Will to appear confused by his increasingly panicked reactions. Monday’s (11 May) trip to the cobbles pushed things even further when Sam ran into Will again and, terrified, accidentally dropped and smashed his telescope during the confrontation.

This Wednesday (13 May), Sam confronted a vengeful Will in an alleyway and attempted to physically defend himself. However, viewers soon saw that Sam had been alone all along. The shocking moment confirmed Sam has been experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations.

While the exact cause of Sam’s symptoms has yet to be revealed, the storyline strongly suggests that the combined impact of psychological trauma, stress and Ritalin misuse has pushed Sam into an increasingly fragile mental state. Online, the twist has sparked major fan speculation as some viewers now believe Sam could somehow be connected to the mystery surrounding Theo Silverton’s death, particularly if he mistakenly believed he was defending himself against Will during a hallucination.

Still, the soap may instead be building towards a more medically grounded explanation, connected to Sam’s use of Ritalin (also known as methylphenidate). Ritalin is a commonly prescribed medication used to treat ADHD and can be highly effective when used correctly under medical supervision. However, taking the drug without a prescription or proper monitoring can trigger serious side effects, particularly for people who do not have ADHD.

Possible side effects include anxiety, insomnia, paranoia, increased heart rate and elevated blood pressure. In more severe cases, misuse can contribute to hallucinations, erratic thinking, addiction and significant anxiety. The soap has not confirmed whether Ritalin alone could be causing Sam’s hallucinations, but the medication appears to have worsened an already severe mental health decline triggered by Megan’s abuse.

Now, spoilers have revealed Sam’s paranoia will continue escalating, with even Roy Cropper unintentionally feeding into his fears. Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding Theo’s death remains unsolved as suspicion begins falling on Gary Windass. But another major shift is looming.

Next week, DS Lisa Connor-Swain questions Summer Spellman over Theo’s death just as Summer receives an opportunity to return to the US for her studies. But leaving may backfire on her. Actor Harriet Bibby has already teased that Summer will begin making increasingly irrational decisions under pressure.

For now though, concern remains firmly focused on Sam, whose heartbreaking storyline continues pushing the young character into increasingly dangerous territory.

Coronation Street is known for its twists and turns though, leaving viewers with, mainly, one unanswered question: Could Sam be hiding a deeper, more sinister secret?
