Emmerdale confirms Dr Todd’s show future as huge new storyline kicks off
Emmerdale confirms Dr Todd’s show future tonight, which will pave the way for a huge blackmail storyline. The menacing medic is set to leave the village following her dad’s death – but not before she raises some funds, by any means necessary.
In recent episodes, Dr Todd announced she would be retiring from the hospital, seemingly putting an end to Jacob Sugden’s bullying ordeal. However, while Jacob tried to make peace with his former mentor, Todd implied she knew a secret that could make his life hell.

Viewers know that Todd was referring to Charity Dingle and Ross Barton being baby Leyla’s biological parents, and in tonight’s episode, the shady character decides to capitalise on that information.
At the shop, Charity is horrified to learn of Todd’s sly remarks and insists Jacob gives her “the widest berth possible”. She tells him to get on with his life and ignore her taunts, and is relieved when Jacob heeds her advice.
Meanwhile, Todd and Vanessa Woodfield have their first date in The Woolpack, sparking gossip among the villagers. The doctor tells Vanessa that she’ll take her to a restaurant near Sheffield next time, away from prying eyes.

“It’s where I grew up… It’s beautiful. It’s my happy place,” she says. “And then this morning, I received a letter to say that I’ve inherited our family home.”

Todd shares her dream of retiring to the house, though she explains that the large property would “cost a lot to run” and money is “tight” since her divorce.
Later, Vanessa gently suggests they should just be friends if Todd will be moving away, and though she denies Charity had a part to play in her change of heart, Todd is unconvinced.
The doctor reiterates needing to “raise the funds”, meaning she’ll be sticking around for a while. She keeps one eye on Charity, ominously declaring that she has a plan forming.
Upcoming episodes will see Dr Todd attempting to blackmail Charity, demanding £10,000 to keep her baby secret. How far will Charity go to hide the truth?
Emmerdale is set to continue its dark storyline involving Dr Todd, with things getting worse for Jacob Sudgen. The workplace bullying plot has seen Todd target Jacob, making him question his abilities as a doctor.
But in recent episodes, viewers have seen Dr Todd move to the village and last week, she told Manpreet Sharma and Vanessa Woodfield that her student has an inappropriate crush on her.
Speaking about Dr Todd, actor Caroline Harker revealed that she didn’t know the direction her character would take when she first joined the soap for a guest role.
“I slightly sensed that – I mean, there was nothing, on paper, I didn’t know, but I slightly sensed that because they reacted to the character so well over in the hospital,” Harker said.
“But I honestly thought that she would be more of a maternal figure to Jacob. I had no idea that this was in the air.”
Harker added that Dr Todd has “a strength to her”, that the actor thought “was going to be used in a different way”, while sharing that she believes her character “feels quite blameless for everything”.
This week will see Jacob make a formal complaint about Todd to HR, and Harker has admitted she is excited over what is to come.
“I think it’s really quite testing,” she shared. “I mean, the scripts come through and they’re amazing, and you just think ‘oh right, okay, I didn’t expect this’. Yes, very good, it’s a very good challenge.”
As for whether Dr Todd is redeemable, Harker said: “I think if she had a lot of therapy or she was born again!
“Everyone’s redeemable, but it would take quite a big shift in her life to be redeemable.”
