baby blues EastEnders’ Toby-Alexander Smith reveals battle with postnatal depression after Emmerdale wife welcomed second child
SOAP star Toby-Alexander Smith has opened up about dealing with his mental health following the birth of his second child.
The EastEnders star has spoken about suffering with postnatal depression shortly after welcoming a new baby with Emmerdale star Amy Walsh.

The soap couple are already parents to their daughter Bonnie who they welcomed into the world in 2022.
The Gray Atkins actor, 35, talked about the dark experience after his soap star wife Amy gave birth to baby Nell in March.

The A Murder Between Friends star told The Daily Mail: “My wife Amy had actually done a postnatal depression storyline on Emmerdale when she was pregnant, and so I sort of knew all the signs to look out for in her.
“And I was watching her like a hawk, only to realise that some of those same symptoms were showing up in myself.

“There isn’t any kind of reference point for dads.
“It’s a growing community and more and more conversations are starting to happen now, which I think is amazing and, you know, so important,” Toby said.

Toby wrote and released a short film Finding Calm in 2025 about a ‘first-time father who becomes overwhelmed by the disconnection he feels from his son’.
Amy has played Tracy on Emmerdale since 2014.

Meanwhile, Toby portrayed evil Gray Atkins on EastEnders for three years, before exiting the BBC soap in 2022.
The pair got engaged in Ibiza during a romantic getaway in August 2023 before tying the knot in a star-studded ceremony in front of family and friends in Montenegro the following month.
Amy and Toby first met in 2019 while in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing and quickly moved in together ahead of the coronavirus pandemic.
Walford is set to see the return of the murderer for a major storyline.

Serial killer Gray will return four years after he was jailed.
But producers are keeping tight lipped about just why Gray is back.
Although his reappearance will be short, as he is still serving a long prison sentence, it is set to cause drama for more than one Walford resident
A source said: “Gray’s return is set to be explosive. He’s got unfinished business in Walford and fans won’t see it coming.”
Gray’s first victim was wife Chantelle (Jessica Plummer), who he murdered in September 2020 after subjecting her to years of domestic abuse. Three months later, he killed Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) when she discovered what had happened to Chantelle.
