Emmerdale’s Sarah Sugden to catch secret family member snooping

Emmerdale‘s Sarah gets a big surprise next week when a secret member of the Sugden clan comes out of the woodwork.

As previously announced, Serena Sugden is heading to the village – but who is the mysterious newcomer? And what will her arrival mean for Emmerdale’s famous family?

“This is the start of an exciting new chapter for the Sugdens,” teases our village insider.

“Serena is a fascinating character who’s set to bring lots of drama to her legendary Dales dynasty – but what lures her to the village in the first place?”

That’s a mystery from the minute she rocks up, with no initial explanation as to who she is.

Serena has clearly come with an agenda, which she’s keen to keep quiet, and makes it her business to gather information on the locals.

For some reason, the Sugdens are of particular interest, and thanks to a cheeky bit of eavesdropping on some private conversations, Serena learns the location of the family home and makes a beeline for Emmerdale Farm.

Checking the coast is clear, she lets herself into the house and starts snooping around – what is she looking for? Sly Serena’s sneaking is then disturbed when Sarah arrives, stunned to catch this stranger in her uncle’s kitchen!

“Sarah is seriously spooked and demands to know what’s going on,” continues our mole. “Serena has some explaining to do, but will she reveal her true intentions there and then or try to conceal her identity?”

As we learn more about Serena’s background and how she links to Sarah, Robert and co, prepare for some big blasts from the past…

Show bosses announced Serena’s arrival last week, revealing that West End star Casey Al-Shaqsy had been cast in the part.

Speaking about her new role, the star commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining such an iconic show and playing a Sugden! Serena is a fantastic character with so much going on beneath the surface. I can’t wait for the audience to see the drama unfold.”

Show producer Laura Shaw added: “The Sugdens are a core part of the Emmerdale fabric, and we are thrilled to welcome Casey to the family.

“Her character will be at the heart of some extremely gripping and unexpected storylines, forcing her to make difficult choices that will have dramatic consequences for some of the village’s biggest names.”
