Emmerdale stars in sweet on-set photo after devastating exit news
Emmerdale stars Lisa Riley and Bradley Johnson has shared a sweet photo together amid rumours that the latter is set to be departing the ITV soap at some point this year.
Johnson has been playing Vinny Dingle on the show since 2019, with unconfirmed reports stating that Mandy actor Riley is especially “devastated” by the news.
Riley didn’t acknowledge the reports in the photo she uploaded to her Instagram today, simply writing “Me and my boy @bradjakejohnson gorgeous morning at our @emmerdale village”.

Of course, that didn’t stop fans from commenting about the reports and hoping that they aren’t correct.
“I’m seriously Annoyed if the rumours are true that @emmerdale are getting rid of vinnys [sic] character”, wrote one fan, while another said: “Please keep Vinny in Emmerdale.”
“Please don’t let him leave”, begged a third.
Emmerdale hasn’t commented on the reports of Johnson’s exit, as the soap does not tend to comment on cast contracts.

Since joining the village, Vinny has dealt with his estranged father Paul with the help of Liv, who he eventually married before her shocking death.
He later married Gabby Thomas, but by that point he had started to doubt his own sexuality, and was blackmailed by an online con artist.
Vinny eventually found the courage to come out, thanks in part to the support from his close friend Kammy Hadiq, and has slowly been embarking on a relationship with Lewis Barton in the last few months.
Given Vinny’s popularity and all the storylines that he’s been given over the year, could he really be facing the axe? A certain upcoming plot will definitely see a rift form in his relationship…
The speculation surrounding Vinny Dingle’s future in Emmerdale continues to dominate fan discussions, with viewers increasingly concerned that one of the village’s most beloved characters could soon be heading for an emotional exit.
Although ITV has remained silent regarding the ongoing rumours, the growing attention from fans suggests that Vinny’s place in the show has become more important than ever. Ever since Bradley Johnson first arrived in the Dales back in 2019, Vinny has evolved from a relatively unknown newcomer into one of the soap’s most layered and relatable characters.
His journey has been anything but straightforward.
From the moment he entered the village alongside Mandy Dingle, viewers quickly discovered that Vinny carried emotional scars beneath his cheerful personality. His complicated relationship with his abusive father Paul Ashdale created some of the most heartbreaking scenes in recent Emmerdale history. Fans watched as Paul manipulated and exploited his son, leaving Vinny struggling with confidence and self-worth.
Despite the trauma, Vinny found support among the Dingles and gradually built a life for himself. His romance with Liv Flaherty became one of the show’s most popular relationships, with viewers investing heavily in their future together. The pair eventually married, appearing ready to face whatever challenges life could throw at them.
Tragically, that future was cut short when Liv lost her life during the devastating storm that rocked the village. The storyline left Vinny shattered, and many fans praised Bradley Johnson’s emotional performances as his character attempted to cope with unimaginable grief.
For a long time, it seemed as though Vinny would never recover from the loss.
However, Emmerdale slowly guided the character toward a new chapter. He developed stronger friendships, rebuilt his confidence and eventually began questioning aspects of his identity that he had previously struggled to confront.
This led to another significant storyline as Vinny explored his sexuality. Rather than rushing the narrative, the soap allowed viewers to witness his confusion, fears and eventual acceptance. The story resonated with many fans who appreciated the show’s sensitive handling of the subject.
A key figure in that journey was Kammy Hadiq, whose friendship helped Vinny find the courage to be honest about his feelings. Their bond became one of the highlights of recent episodes, proving that supportive friendships can sometimes be just as impactful as romantic relationships.
More recently, viewers have watched Vinny grow closer to Lewis Barton. Their connection has developed gradually, with both characters cautiously navigating their feelings while dealing with personal baggage from the past.
For many fans, the relationship represented a fresh start for Vinny after years of heartbreak and disappointment.
That is precisely why rumours of an exit have sparked such a strong reaction online.
Across social media platforms, viewers have been sharing messages of support for Bradley Johnson and expressing hope that Vinny’s story is far from over. Many believe there is still plenty of potential left for the character, particularly now that he appears to be entering a more stable and confident phase of his life.
Others have pointed out that Vinny has become a vital part of the Dingle family dynamic. His close relationship with Mandy remains one of the soap’s most enjoyable partnerships, balancing emotional moments with humour and warmth.
Should Vinny leave, fans fear that the village would lose one of its most dependable emotional anchors.
Adding further intrigue to the situation are reports suggesting that upcoming episodes could place significant strain on Vinny’s personal relationships. While details remain tightly guarded, spoilers hint that misunderstandings, secrets and conflicting priorities may soon create tension between him and those closest to him.
Such developments have inevitably fuelled speculation that the writers may be preparing the groundwork for a dramatic departure storyline.
Soap viewers know all too well that happiness rarely lasts long in Emmerdale.
Even when characters appear to have found stability, unexpected revelations can change everything overnight. Whether it’s family conflict, romantic betrayal or hidden secrets from the past, the village has a habit of turning lives upside down when least expected.
If Vinny does face a major crisis in the coming months, fans can expect Bradley Johnson to deliver the kind of emotional performances that have made him such a popular member of the cast.
His ability to portray vulnerability, resilience and heartbreak has consistently earned praise from viewers. Over the years, he has transformed Vinny into a character audiences genuinely care about, which explains why the possibility of losing him has generated such strong reactions.
At the moment, however, nothing has been officially confirmed.
Neither ITV nor representatives for the actor have announced any departure plans. Until an official statement is released, viewers are left to speculate about what the future may hold.
In fact, some fans remain optimistic that the rumours could simply be a misunderstanding. Soap exits are often reported long before they happen, and in some cases they never materialise at all.
There is also the possibility that upcoming storylines are being deliberately kept secret to preserve major twists.
After all, Emmerdale has a long history of surprising its audience.
Characters thought to be leaving have sometimes remained for years, while others have departed with little warning. The unpredictability is part of what keeps viewers invested week after week.
For now, Vinny appears to have plenty left to fight for.
He has friendships worth protecting, family members who care deeply about him and the possibility of a meaningful new romance. Those foundations could easily support another chapter of character development rather than an exit storyline.
Nevertheless, the uncertainty continues to linger.
As fans await further information, every scene featuring Vinny is being examined for clues. A meaningful conversation, an emotional confrontation or even a seemingly innocent interaction is enough to spark fresh theories online.
Whether those theories prove accurate remains to be seen.
One thing is certain: Vinny Dingle has become far more than a supporting character. Through heartbreak, loss, self-discovery and personal growth, he has established himself as one of Emmerdale’s most compelling figures.
If the rumours are false, fans will undoubtedly celebrate. If they turn out to be true, viewers can expect an emotional farewell that reflects everything the character has contributed to the village over the past several years.
Until then, audiences will continue watching closely, hoping that Vinny’s story still has many chapters left to tell.
