Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has revealed that there are some big twists and turns coming up for her character Maria Connor, ahead of a life-changing few weeks on the cobbles.

Maria has recently grown concerned about her husband Gary’s closeness to his ex Sarah, and in upcoming scenes next week, her suspicions escalate when Gary unexpectedly leaps to struggling Sarah’s defence.

This week, Jodie overheard a secret phone conversation between Sarah and Gary, where Sarah promised that he isn’t on his own and pledged to support him – though we don’t yet know what she is referring to.

Gary is one of the six official suspects for villain Theo’s death, though while the murder investigation is continuing, it is Summer who has been charged with the crime.

However, Summer didn’t kill Theo and was charged because Tyrone didn’t corroborate her alibi – as he is hiding that he accidentally hurt Carl on the night that Theo was killed.

There is a possibility that Gary is the culprit, and Samia explained that Maria would have a difficult decision to make about the future of their marriage if he was unveiled as the mysterious killer.

“I honestly don’t know, because she does love him and because he’s such a good stepdad to Liam,” Samia said. “Maria’s family values are her priority. It would take a lot for her to leave Gary because she’s so focussed on keeping her family together.”
